Description
Christian Drouin Calvados 1992/2022 - 48,2% vol. - 0,7 liter
With a collection of vintage Calvados dating back to 1939, the House of Drouin is the equivalent of Gordon & MacPhail in the Calvados industry. The apple brandy from Normandy is made by double pot still distillation of cider, i.e. fermented apple must. At Drouin, the origin-protected specialty matures intensively in a selection of mostly smaller oak barrels. The house is also experimenting with finishes.
The Calvados 1992/2022 matured in a traditional French Calvados oak barrel for a full 30 years. The Single Cask is the last of our 2022 trilogy of bottlings that we tasted and selected on site in the house cellars - exclusively for Kirsch Import.
The single cask bottling, limited to 90 bottles, is a particularly straightforward, classic and incredibly self-confident Calvados. At an intense 48.2% vol. it shows a very exciting interplay of aromas from fresh green apples to honey sweetness and minerality to intense spice.
